I feel more informed about fueling my body
"I had worked with a nutritionist before and had minimal success, so I was not sure if this would be the same. I put a few feelers out there with others, and I appreciated Emily's quick response to see me and work with me. I have always worked out and lifted weights but have struggled with dropping even a few pounds. I felt healthy, I felt strong, but I also felt that the number on the scale should be moving, and I wasn't sure what else to do. I found myself struggling at night, I would want to snack and I think that was because I was hungry from not fueling my body properly. “I think my initial fear of meeting with Emily was that I would fail at losing weight, and fail yet another diet. From the beginning Emily encouraged me to not just follow a diet, but a create a lifestyle change. Being overweight was met with challenges that created a vicious cycle of not exercising because I was not comfortable and my knees hurt, and not losing weight because I was not exercising. After working with Emily I can now walk with ease, as well as ride my bike and swim. Inflammation is minimal, and my energy level is great! I still have a long way to go with weight loss but I am down 2 sizes and people are noticing. I do not feel like I am on a diet, but that I have made a lifestyle change. "In making an initial appointment with Emily, I was excited to find out if she could be able to help me with my weight loss goals. Before I met Emily I was at a loss as to what I could do about my inability to lose weight. I ate a very healthy diet and exercised 5-6 times per week. I even had my primary care doctor check all of my hormone levels to see if that had anything to do with my inability to lose weight (it did not). I was extremely frustrated because I had been doing everything that I was suppose to do in order to lose weight. Since I met with Emily, I have been able to lose some weight and I have more energy. "I have been overweight since birth, and starting dieting at a young age. I "yo-yoed" for several years and nothing seemed to work. I ended up having gastric bypass surgery, and lost weight, but that slowly came back on. I tried every diet, went to programs, groups, and exercised. The most important change I noticed working with Emily is consistent weight loss! And I enjoy eating! And I enjoy cooking again! "I have been avoiding weight issues for a few years, so I was hesitant about making an appointment with Emily. My WEIGHT was over the top, I had trouble bending over tying my shoes, I was out of breath when walking, TIRED, etc. FOOD made me feel better, but I was angry with myself as I continued to eat to make myself feel better. I never wanted to admit how big of an issue it was. I wanted to do something about it, but at the same time, didn’t want to. After working with Emily I now have better health, I'm not using my sleep apnea machine, I'm walking fast, and exercising 2 -3 times a week. I also have much more energy. And I didn’t even notice, but others have, that I am doing more physical things with less effort than before the weight loss. I feel good about myself, and have dropped 2 sizes.
